Here's a fun little exercise. Have you ever thought of the things you do NOT need to buy at the grocery store?

I'll start.

Croutons and stuffing mix
Breadcrumbs
Cracker crumbs, and crackers, too, for that matter!
Shake and bake
Flavoured rice mixtures
Refrigerator biscuits
Popped or microwave popcorn
Cream soups
Fudgesicles and popsicles
Pancake syrup
Chocolate syrup
Cheese - cream cheese, cheddar/colby, mozzarella, parmesan
Hot cocoa mix
Applesauce
Cranberry sauce
Pancake mix
Pie shells
Fabric softener sheets
Carpet freshener
Laundry stain remover
Laundry detergent
Toilet paper!
Paper towels, paper plates, paper napkins, etc ad nauseum
All-purpose spray cleaner
Bread
Candle wicks
English muffins
Teether cookies
Wrapping paper
Tomato soup
Deodorant
Scouring powder
Diaper wipes
Chicken or beef broth

Here's a home security tip I wrote down in my "Frugal Notebook" years ago:
"Put a pair of worn, dirty, size 14 work boots outside the front door. Wet often so they always look freshly used. Hey - would *you* break in?"

Your turn! What do you know how to make instead of buying from the store?
