I found this fabulous list showing how to determine the condition of
your soil based on the weeds growing there. I thought it might be
useful to some of you.
Dandelions, though, will grow absolutely anywhere, so dandelions alone
won't tell you anything.
Wet/moist soil weeds – moss, Joe-pye weed, spotted spurge, knotweed,
chickweed, crabgrass, ground ivy, violets, sedge
Dry/sandy soil weeds – sorrel, thistle, speedwell, garlic mustard,
sandbur, yarrow, nettle, carpetweed, pigweed
Heavy clay soil weeds – plantain, nettle, quack grass
Hard compacted soil weeds – bluegrass, chickweed, goose grass,
knotweed, mustard, cress, morning glory, dandelion, nettle, plantain
Poor/low fertility soil weeds – yarrow, daisy, Queen Anne's lace (wild
carrot), mullein, ragweed, fennel, thistle, plantain, mugwort,
dandelion, crabgrass, clover
Fertile/well-drained, humus soil weeds – foxtail, chicory, horehound,
dandelion, purslane, lamb's quarters
Acidic (sour) soil weeds – daisy, plantain, knotweed, sorrel, cress, moss
Alkaline (sweet) soil weeds – Queen Anne's lace (wild carrot),
chickweed, spotted spurge, chicory

You know you have something to say. And I want to hear it. I really do.
Really. I wouldn't be blogging if I didn't love hearing what my readers have to say!
